Staff Software Engineer, Simulator Platform (C++)

Location: Hybrid role based in Mountain View or San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $204,000–$259,000 USD per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus, equity incentive plan, and company benefits.

What you will do

• Work with onboard and research engineers to scale simulation and support critical autonomous-driving milestones.
• Develop, test, and evolve mapping data within the simulator.
• Improve and monitor simulator performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Design long-term architecture for a product serving an increasing number of internal customers.
• Build realistic simulations of vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, roads, traffic control systems, weather, cameras, lidar, and radar.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building a popular internal- or external-facing product.
• Backend experience with workflows, databases, SQL, and production monitoring.
• Strong C++ skills.
• Experience collaborating across software engineering, machine learning, data science, onboard engineering, and research teams.

Nice to have

• Experience releasing software in highly distributed, heterogeneous execution environments.
• Systems programming experience with game engines, databases, operating systems, or distributed systems.
• Machine learning experience.
• Previous technical leadership experience.
