Shift Supervisor - Power Plant

Location: Lorton, Virginia, United States; onsite at the power plant

Salary: $109,500–$145,700 per year

What you will do

• Safely and efficiently operate the facility during an assigned rotating shift.
• Monitor boilers, turbines, steam systems, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Tour the plant, supervise personnel, and maintain operations within environmental limits and permits.
• Coordinate emergency response and direct or perform operational work during unusual conditions.
• Approve equipment removal from service, safety permits, clearance, and tagging for maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot plant issues, coordinate maintenance, and train and manage a cross-trained workforce.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least five years of experience in power plant or resource-recovery plant operations.
• Hands-on experience with high-pressure boilers, electrical generation, and formal technical training.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an ASME QRO Provisional and Site-Specific Operators license.
• Knowledge of steam-generating power stations, instrument and control systems, plant procedures, technical instructions, and logic diagrams.
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends, holidays, outage support, and vacation coverage; physical ability to climb, lift 50 pounds, work at heights and in confined spaces, wear a full-face respirator, and work in varied weather conditions.
