Power Plant Stationary Engineer Full Time Evenings

Location: Palos Heights, Illinois, United States; onsite evening shift

Salary: USD 35.55–44.44 per hour

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, repair, fabricate, install, and maintain hospital utility systems and equipment.
• Operate and maintain boilers, feedwater treatment systems, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, compressors, vacuum pumps, and medical gas systems.
• Operate and maintain emergency diesel generators, fire pumps, domestic water systems, and related mechanical equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, service-request response, system rounds, and operational logging.
• Test water and steam chemistry, interpret results, and adjust chemical treatment as needed.
• Coordinate with contractors and support maintenance and electrical staff.

Requirements

• Valid City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License required.
• Thorough knowledge of steam generation and refrigeration principles.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license; additional certification or licensure may be required.
• At least 1–2 years of related experience; ability to work with minimal supervision, weekends, holidays, and shift coverage.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and apply critical thinking, decisive judgment, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Technical training in a job-related field.
• Five years of relevant experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
