Journalism Researcher News Intake

Location: 100% office based at London Broadcasting House, with work across media hubs in Central London and Westminster. The role includes a 24/7 rota with early and late shifts, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

Salary: Up to £26,000 per year plus London weighting, depending on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.

What you will do

• Monitor and coordinate incoming files and feeds from hirify.global staff, news agencies, and partner organisations.
• Manage live contributions from external guests, prepare them for broadcast, and put them on air through different platforms.
• Carry out technical and editorial assessments of incoming audio and video, and arrange recordings from hirify.global and non-hirify.global sources.
• Identify editorially significant pictures, audio, and copy, then alert news desks and programmes.
• Edit rough-cut picture compilations and prepare pre-cut material for transmission under senior guidance.
• Capture accurate metadata, including copyright and usage restrictions, and provide material to regions, agencies, and hirify.global clients or partners.

Requirements

• Experience working in a newsroom team in an editorial role.
• Willingness to work a rotating schedule covering early shifts, late shifts, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
• Demonstrable interest in daily news.
• Experience with video editing software or an asset management system, or the ability to acquire these skills.
• Understanding of multimedia newsroom production methods and copyright restrictions for media content.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom is subject to employment screening checks.
