Consumer Industries Correspondent

Location: London, United Kingdom; onsite at least three days per week

hirify.global is a global news organisation producing independent journalism and business information for an international audience.

What you will do

• Report on food and drinks, household and personal care companies, UK farming, consumer brands and related corporate developments.
• Break news and generate original story ideas across major public companies, private groups and entrepreneurial challengers.
• Build a broad network of industry contacts to inform stories and generate scoops.
• Write original long-form pieces for the Companies section and other parts of the hirify.global.
• Work with news desks, overseas bureaux, the deals team, and data, visuals and video teams on ambitious projects.
• Provide cover for leisure and retail reporters and participate in the weekend newsroom rota.

Requirements

• Strong original reporting, writing and intelligent commentary skills.
• Ability to cover corporate strategy, dealmaking, restructuring, turnarounds and consumer behaviour.
• Ability to develop and maintain a wide range of industry contacts.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with international bureaux and multidisciplinary editorial teams.
• Availability to work onsite in the London newsroom at least three days per week, subject to role requirements.
• Availability for weekend shifts as part of the newsroom rota.
