Systems/Software Engineer III Cloud & On-Premise Software Development (Cybersecurity)

Location: San Juan, Puerto Rico; hybrid, with an average requirement to work 2 days per week from an HPE office.

What you will do

• Own one or more product modules end to end for Security Director Cloud and Security Director On-Prem.
• Design, develop, troubleshoot, debug, and review software enhancements and new product functionality.
• Implement cloud-native and on-premises security management capabilities for SRX and vSRX firewalls, Secure Edge, hybrid cloud environments, and SASE.
• Write robust unit and functional tests, improve automated code coverage, validate functionality, and document test cases before QA handoff.
• Contribute to cross-functional initiatives, technical leadership, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience developing software products.
• Experience building cloud products using microservices architecture and extensive knowledge of cloud applications and technologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, software design, debugging, and communication skills.
• Experience working effectively in globally distributed, cross-geography engineering teams across multiple time zones and cultures.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Hands-on experience across several of the listed technologies, including Go 1.24+, Java with Spring Boot/Spring Framework or Jakarta EE, PostgreSQL or an equivalent database, Elasticsearch, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, REST, and OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Experience with Apache Kafka, Redis-based queues, Docker, Kubernetes and Kubernetes client libraries, Prometheus, distributed tracing, structured logging with SLF4J/Logback, and load balancers such as Ambassador or an equivalent.
• Experience with Bazel, Maven, Helm, OAuth2, SAML, JWT, and Jenkins CI/CD.
• Mastery of English and the local language.
