Software Applications Engineer (Identity & AI Security)

Location: Fort Collins, Colorado, United States of America. Candidates must currently be eligible to work in the United States and must not require work authorization sponsorship in the future.

Salary: $65,600–$101,000 USD annually, with additional bonus and/or equity opportunities.

What you will do

• Build secure new solutions and enhance existing application features.
• Support the development, testing, and deployment of identity services and integrations with external identity providers.
• Work with senior engineers to troubleshoot and harden authentication flows.
• Use AI coding assistants and agentic tools for development, testing, and documentation, reviewing their output for correctness and security.
• Assist with AI-enabled automation and secure integrations with AI services.
• Contribute to documentation and best practices across identity systems while collaborating with internal teams and business partners.

Requirements

• University degree or higher completed before the start date; no more than 12 months since graduation.
• No more than 24 months of professionally related work experience, excluding internships, teaching assistance, research work, and military experience.
• Ability to obtain US work authorization without requiring future sponsorship.
• Programming experience in Python, Java, Go, or C++.
• Basic understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, JWTs, and authentication flows.
• Foundational knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and SSO.
• Exposure to security fundamentals including TLS, certificates, and firewalls.
• Hands-on use of AI tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or ChatGPT for coding or projects, plus awareness of AI security risks including prompt injection and data leakage.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working on a collaborative Agile team.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Internship, co-op, or class project involving authentication or identity provider integration.
• Experience building with LLM APIs or securing access for AI agents and tools, such as OAuth for MCP servers.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Entra, including app registrations and conditional access.
• Coursework or certifications in IAM, cloud, or AI, such as Microsoft SC-900 or AZ-900.
