Security Officer I (Healthcare Security)

Location: On-site at 1 Kish Hospital Dr., DeKalb, Illinois, United States. Part-time casual position with a rotating schedule and variable hours.

Salary: $20–$29 per hour

What you will do

• Protect patients, visitors, employees, medical staff, and hospital property from theft, damage, unauthorized access, and safety risks.
• Patrol hospital buildings and grounds on foot and by vehicle, monitor restricted areas, and escort staff to vehicles when requested.
• Investigate incidents, disturbances, theft, hazardous conditions, criminal activity, and other security concerns; prepare detailed reports.
• Monitor access control, fire and duress alarms, security video, parking permits, and hospital entry points.
• Respond to emergency codes, control traffic during incidents and helicopter transports, and notify police or fire officials when required.
• Conduct contraband searches, assist with patient restraints under clinical direction, and deliver deceased bodies to the morgue according to policy.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and the physical ability to operate a motor vehicle and perform patrol duties.
• Successful completion of the IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire and continued IAHSS Basic certification.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association within 9 months of hire.
• Completion of hirify.global Defensive Tactics in Healthcare within 6 months of hire.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, report-writing, and documentation skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare security, police work, or military service.
• Valid FOID card.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree.
