TL;DR
F&DT Engineer (Contract) (Aircraft Structures): Developing fatigue and damage-tolerance justifications and structural repair solutions for Airbus in-service aircraft with an accent on metallic structure analysis, airworthiness requirements, and repair documentation. Focus on interpreting aircraft damage reports, designing efficient repairs, and coordinating technical solutions with design, static stress, customers, and MRO partners.

Location: Wichita, Kansas, United States; onsite at least 90% of the time at the Wichita Engineering office

What you will do

  • Perform fatigue and damage-tolerance analysis for metallic aircraft structures using hand calculations and computer-based techniques.
  • Review aircraft structure damage reports from Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul organizations and develop repair solutions.
  • Create and modify technical communications, technical dispositions, repair instructions, and repair drawings.
  • Coordinate repair requirements with Static Stress, Design, customers, suppliers, airlines, and MRO organizations.
  • Prepare engineering documentation using hirify.global toolsets, including SAP and AirDoc.
  • Plan, monitor, and execute repair activities while supporting process, method, and tool improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering.
  • Approximately 9 years of engineering experience in an airline, OEM, or MRO environment, preferably involving aircraft structures, fatigue, materials, and structural repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, technical documentation, and manuals such as SRM, SB, and IPC.
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance repair practices, equipment, and working methods.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with international teams, customers, and business partners.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and work onsite in Wichita at least 90% of the time.
