Design Engineer - In Service Repair (Aircraft Structures)

Location: Wichita, Kansas, United States; onsite 100% with rotating evening and weekend shifts.

What you will do

• Develop repair solutions for metallic and non-metallic aircraft structures supporting the airline in-service fleet.
• Review aircraft structural damage reports from maintenance repair organizations and produce quality repairs.
• Create and modify technical communications, technical dispositions, repair instructions, and repair drawings.
• Coordinate with Static Stress, F&DT, other Airbus departments, customers, and suppliers to define optimal repair solutions.
• Prepare engineering documents using Airbus computer-based tools, including SAP and AirDoc.
• Plan and monitor repair activities, respond to routine technical queries, and support improvements to team processes, methods, and tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace, civil, or mechanical engineering, with emphasis on structural design, analysis, and mechanics of materials.
• 5+ years of design experience in airframe design and repair projects.
• Experience with metallic and/or composite airframe structural repair.
• Ability to interpret technical procedures, engineering drawings, bills of material, and written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to work for extended periods in an office environment and travel independently at short notice.
• Current authorization to work in the United States is required.
