TL;DR
STC Solutions Cabin Design Engineer (Aerospace): Leading end-to-end aircraft cabin modification and retrofit projects from technical feasibility through delivery with an accent on cabin architecture, equipment integration, certification, and supplier coordination. Focus on integrating 3D/2D cabin designs, managing configuration and regulatory compliance, supporting aircraft embodiment and testing, and delivering engineering packages within schedule, cost, and risk targets.

Location: Mobile Area, Alabama, United States; minimum 80% onsite and 20% remote. Travel required: 10% domestic and/or international.

What you will do

  • Lead end-to-end Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) cabin modification projects from technical proposal through delivery and Return to Service.
  • Define cabin architecture, technical requirements, aircraft impacts, configuration controls, engineering assumptions, schedules, costs, and risks.
  • Supervise 3D/2D studies, CATIA model integration, clash analysis, cabin definition and installation drawings, weight and balance calculations, service bulletins, and test plans.
  • Coordinate suppliers through ITCM, PDR, CDR, FPDR, and FAI milestones as the primary technical focal point.
  • Provide onsite engineering support during aircraft embodiment and respond to airline customer technical queries after delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with Airbus processes, aviation regulations, safety requirements, budgets, and delivery timelines while capturing lessons learned and improving workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aeronautical, civil, or electrical engineering.
  • At least 5 years of aviation-industry experience focused on aircraft cabin engineering, development processes, design, and certification.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available for this US position.
  • Experience with aircraft modifications, cabin upgrades, equipment integration, configuration management, and the complete cabin retrofit process.
  • Hands-on CATIA V5 experience and knowledge of Airbus aircraft, Airbus engineering tools, and mechanical systems ATA21/35/38/92.
  • Knowledge of EASA Part 21, Part 145, CS25, cabin installation requirements, and Airbus DOA processes; delegated ATA25 signatory experience is required or preferred.

Nice to have

  • Delegated signatory for ATA25 within the Airbus Design Organization Approval.
  • Experience supporting airline operators, suppliers, and international engineering stakeholders.
