Senior Jet Engine Design Engineer (Aerospace)

hirify.global is an aerospace startup developing AI-guided interceptor drones and the software platform that powers them for NATO-aligned militaries and defense institutions.

What you will do

• Design and develop in-house small jet engines in the 12–25 kg thrust class, from concept through flight-ready hardware.
• Own the aerodynamic design of turbine components while balancing performance, manufacturability, and production cost.
• Design turbine components for metal additive manufacturing and collaborate on printable geometries, tolerances, post-processing, and flight qualification.
• Lead rapid build-test-learn-redesign cycles and contribute to bench and flight testing, performance validation, and continuous improvement.
• Integrate propulsion systems into flying wings and other interceptor drone airframes with aerostructures and systems teams.
• Apply design rules for cold and hot climates, rain, humidity, and icing conditions.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in jet engine or gas turbine design, including designing and delivering complete engine models.
• Strong hands-on experience with small jet engines in the 12–25 kg thrust class.
• Broad knowledge of compressor, combustor, turbine, fuel system, controls, and their interactions.
• Experience with turbine and engine component design for metal additive manufacturing and practical knowledge of metal 3D printing constraints.
• Experience integrating propulsion systems into airframes and working in rapid-iteration development environments.
• Ability to work autonomously in a small, fast-paced startup team.

Nice to have

• Experience with UAV or drone propulsion.
• Knowledge of low-cost manufacturing strategies for defense or dual-use hardware.
• Prior startup or skunkworks experience.
