TL;DR
CAD & Stress Analyst (Aerospace): Designing and structurally justifying thrust chamber and injector hardware for spacecraft propulsion systems with an accent on CAD development, hand calculations, FEA, materials, and manufacturing constraints. Focus on substantiating margins of safety under mechanical, thermal, and pressure loads, correlating analyses with test results, and taking flight hardware from concept through qualified design.

Location: Bordeaux, France

Company

The Exploration Company develops innovative aerospace technologies for the future of space transportation, including in-house propulsion systems.

What you will do

  • Design thrust chambers and injectors in CAD from concept layout through detailed, manufacturable design.
  • Perform hand calculations and FEA to justify structural margins under mechanical, thermal, and pressure loads.
  • Select materials and manufacturing processes in coordination with manufacturing engineering.
  • Translate propulsion, thermal, and fluidic requirements into part-level designs, load cases, interfaces, drawings, and controlled datasets.
  • Prepare structural analysis reports, trade studies, technical documentation, and test requirements for design reviews and qualification.
  • Support manufacturing, inspection, assembly, testing, root-cause investigations, model correlation, and design updates based on test results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • More than one year of experience in CAD design and stress analysis of mechanical or structural hardware.
  • Strong CAD skills and experience taking parts from concept to fully detailed, manufacturable designs.
  • Experience with structural and stress analysis, including hand calculations and FEA using tools such as Ansys, Abaqus, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with machining, additive manufacturing, welding, or brazing and their impact on structural performance.
  • Fluent English is required. Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills are also required.

Nice to have

  • CFD experience for thermal or flow-related analysis of propulsion hardware.
  • Experience in propulsion, aerospace, or another high-reliability environment.
  • Passion for space and interest in advancing the European space industry.

Culture & Benefits

  • Agile environment with fast decision-making focused on clear goals and robust systems.
  • Open and collaborative culture with transparent discussion of risks and obstacles.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the development of space transportation and the democratisation of space.
  • Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are provided where applicable.
