EHS Specialist (R&D Laboratory)

Location: Dublin, Ohio, United States; site-based laboratory position

What you will do

• Establish and maintain EHS programs, policies, procedures, chemical hygiene plans, laboratory safety manuals, and safe work practices for the R&D laboratory.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local environmental requirements, including RCRA, EPCRA, and CAA reporting.
• Conduct laboratory risk assessments, hazard analyses, job safety analyses, Management of Change reviews, inspections, and audits.
• Lead corrective actions, incident investigations, emergency response coordination, chemical spill response, and emergency equipment readiness.
• Develop and deliver onboarding and site-specific safety training while supporting safety committees and a proactive safety culture.
• Track EHS metrics, analyze trends, communicate performance to leadership, and support budget planning for EHS initiatives and services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Chemistry, a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• At least three years of EHS experience in a laboratory, chemical handling, or R&D environment.
• Working knowledge of OSHA laboratory standards, chemistry, environmental compliance, chemical hazards, material compatibility, and risk controls.
• Experience supporting corporate EHS management systems and developing and delivering safety training.
• Strong communication, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to wear required personal protective equipment; employment may require drug screening, background checks, and other pre-employment compliance checks.

Nice to have

• Experience in research and development laboratories or specialty chemical environments.
• Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Safety Professional certification.
• Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience.
