TL;DR
Software Engineer II (Java/AWS): Building reliable InsuranceSuite deployment services for the Guidewire Cloud Platform with an accent on microservices, Kubernetes, automated deployment workflows, and production reliability. Focus on implementing selective and blue-green deployments, scaling, rollbacks, database restores, and cloud-native automation across AWS-based services.
Location: Krakow, Poland; hybrid schedule with in-office attendance required for 10 days per month

What you will do
- Clarify requirements, break down user stories, and deliver features for the Cloud Platform.
- Build and improve InsuranceSuite deployment workflows, including selective and blue-green deployments, scaling, hibernation, rollbacks, and database restore operations.
- Develop clean Java and Spring Boot code with unit, integration, and acceptance tests.
- Work with Kubernetes and AWS platform services to manage application resources and deployment state.
- Participate in code reviews, CI/CD, production troubleshooting, and reliability and observability improvements.
- Collaborate with engineers, SRE, and other Cloud Platform teams on release automation.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of relevant programming experience and a strong foundation in algorithms and data structures.
- Proficiency in Java or another programming language, with the ability to learn Java quickly.
- Experience with object-oriented design, Clean Code, Test-Driven Development, code reviews, pair programming, and microservices architecture.
- Strong problem-solving, ownership, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in an English-speaking environment.
- Availability for in-office work in Krakow for 10 days per month.
Nice to have
- Experience with AWS services such as EKS, DynamoDB, IAM, SQS, and S3.
- Experience building platform software with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native technologies.
- Familiarity with the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Core, Boot, and Data.
