Senior Legal Counsel

Location: London, UK. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK. External candidates may be required to attend an in-person interview at an hirify.global location.

hirify.global is a global media and entertainment company producing and distributing film, television, streaming, news, and theme park content through brands including NBC, Universal, DreamWorks, Telemundo, and Peacock.

What you will do

• Negotiate and draft agreements for the distribution of entertainment and news channels, direct-to-consumer offerings, and brands across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific.
• Draft and negotiate content acquisition, advertising, and sponsorship agreements.
• Advise on marketing, consumer law, copyright, advertising, and compliance matters.
• Act as the primary legal adviser for international media distribution involving third-party foreign-language channels distributed into the US.
• Support projects and product launches while advising on legislative and regulatory developments.
• Collaborate with specialist intellectual property, litigation, privacy, and employment lawyers, and supervise or train junior staff when required.

Requirements

• Eligible to work in the UK.
• Qualified to practise law in the UK preferred; other jurisdictions may be considered.
• Approximately six years of post-qualification experience or equivalent; candidates with more experience are welcome to apply.
• Essential experience leading the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts.
• Strong drafting and communication skills, commercial judgment, stakeholder management, accuracy, prioritisation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Interest in the media industry and related legal issues, with an interest in using AI to improve efficiency in legal workstreams.

Nice to have

• Intellectual property or transactional corporate experience in private practice or in-house.
• UK legal qualification.
