Principal, Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Salary: $169,000–$338,000 per year, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Architect scalable, production-grade machine learning systems for customer-facing and operational products.
• Lead the full ML lifecycle, including data sourcing, feature engineering, model training, deployment, and monitoring.
• Apply advanced modeling approaches such as deep learning, NLP, reinforcement learning, time series analysis, and multimodal modeling.
• Guide architectural decisions, mentor engineering teams, and promote technical excellence.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML solutions with platform strategies and downstream applications.
• Define standards for model evaluation, fairness, responsible AI compliance, and technical knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Extensive experience designing and architecting scalable production-grade machine learning systems.
• Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Python, Java, and SQL.
• Expertise in end-to-end ML lifecycle management, MLOps, model validation, and hyperparameter optimization.
• Advanced knowledge of deep learning, NLP, reinforcement learning, and time series analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 5 years of related experience, or 7 years of related experience without the degree requirement.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience, with strong technical writing and critical-thinking skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with accessibility best practices, inclusive digital experiences, WCAG 2.2 AA, and assistive technologies.
