Machine Learning Manager (Catalog Science)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid schedule with in-office work Tuesday through Thursday and remote work Monday and Friday

Annual base salary: CAD 330,408–348,739

What you will do

• Define the machine learning and AI strategy for catalog intelligence in partnership with Catalog, Product, Engineering, Operations, and AI stakeholders.
• Lead systems for catalog enrichment, product data validation, media understanding, customer reviews, user-generated content, and feedback intelligence.
• Manage and develop a team of Machine Learning Scientists across experimentation, model development, evaluation, productionization, and monitoring.
• Provide technical leadership through reviews of model designs, experiment plans, evaluation frameworks, code, and system architectures.
• Partner with Engineering to build scalable, observable, reliable, and cost-efficient AI systems, data pipelines, and serving infrastructure.
• Translate catalog-quality opportunities into cross-functional programs with clear roadmaps, milestones, ownership, and measurable outcomes.

Requirements

• PhD with 5+ years, MS with 9+ years, or BS with 11+ years of experience in computer science, machine learning, statistics, or another quantitative STEM field.
• Experience leading applied machine learning or data science teams and delivering production systems with meaningful business impact.
• Strong foundations in machine learning, statistics, experimentation, and evaluation, including work with large and complex datasets.
• Proficiency in Python and modern machine learning tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or XGBoost.
• Experience with generative AI, multimodal data, prompt design, retrieval, fine-tuning, agentic workflows, and human-in-the-loop systems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, MLOps, experiment tracking, model monitoring, production observability, and agentic coding tools such as Cursor, Codex, or Devin.

Nice to have

• Experience working with structured product data, text, images, documents, customer feedback, or other multimodal data.
• Experience managing and developing a Machine Learning or Data Science team of 5–10 people.
