Senior Mechanical Engineer, Product Development (Automation)

Location: Hsinchu, Taiwan. The role is based in a manufacturing environment and includes occasional travel of approximately 5–10%. The description also references Nordson Electronics Solutions in Carlsbad, California.

What you will do

• Define, design, test, document, and release new mechanical products.
• Design fluid applicators, fluid management systems, automation machine frames and structures, and sheet-metal components.
• Conduct feasibility studies and develop robust designs that meet product, safety, regulatory, quality, and cost requirements.
• Develop and execute test plans, support prototype and beta builds, and design products for manufacturing.
• Integrate mechanical designs with electrical and software engineering systems.
• Plan and coordinate large projects or multiple smaller projects through the phase-gate process and project milestones.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 7–10 years of experience, or equivalent relevant experience.
• SolidWorks or equivalent experience is required.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, product development, testing, documentation, and manufacturing.
• Ability to collaborate with electrical, software, operations, product management, and customers.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, and occasional electrical hazards.

Nice to have

• Experience with sensors, measuring devices, control systems, and automation.
• Phase-gate and project management experience.
• Experience developing and launching new products.
• Customer interaction and factory visit experience.
• Experience with enterprise resource planning systems, including SAP.
