Field Compression Engineer (Natural Gas Compression)

Location: Onsite in Odessa, Texas, with travel throughout West Texas and New Mexico. Travel may be up to 50%, often overnight, with occasional weekend travel.

What you will do

• Provide technical expertise for mechanical needs related to natural gas compression and ancillary equipment.
• Specify compression equipment based on operating conditions to improve efficiency, flexibility, reliability, maintainability, and life-cycle cost.
• Support field locations, contractors, operations teams, vendors, and equipment-related meetings.
• Develop annual budgets for compression and ancillary equipment needs with Operations.
• Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, control, instrumentation, flow, cause-and-effect, and P&ID drawings.
• Follow engineering and governmental safety requirements while supporting field equipment and sites.

Requirements

• Four-year engineering degree from an accredited school.
• Preferred: two years of post-degree practical experience in the design and technical analysis of high-pressure natural gas compressor systems.
• Knowledge of reciprocating engines and compressors, gas turbines, electric motor drives, and centrifugal compressors.
• Experience or knowledge of compressor station design and basic engineering skills.
• Ability to use word-processing and spreadsheet software and interpret engineering drawings and diagrams.
• Valid driver's license, company insurability, ability to travel, work outdoors in extreme weather, use safety equipment, and lift required loads.
