Senior Project Engineer (HVAC Compressors)

Location: Sidney, Ohio, USA; hybrid work model with regular onsite presence required for project and laboratory activities, including an onsite initial onboarding period.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and validate mechanical components and systems for fixed-speed and variable-speed HVAC refrigerant compressors.
• Apply thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, machine design, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and tribology to solve product design challenges.
• Create mechanical test plans, perform simulation and engineering analysis, interpret test data, and implement design improvements.
• Investigate compressor hardware issues through laboratory testing, component evaluation, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, application engineering, sourcing, and marketing teams to transition products from concept to production.
• Present technical recommendations to leadership and mentor developing engineers in mechanical design and structured problem-solving.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, including product development, quality, sustainability, lifecycle, product support, or internships.
• Experience with 3D CAD software such as NX, SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or CATIA.
• Experience with engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS or Minitab and the ability to solve complex mechanical engineering problems.
• Experience with compressors, rotating equipment, or similar mechanical systems is required or strongly preferred.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship is required; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Nice to have

• Seven years of experience developing mechanical products, compressors, pumps, motors, or similar equipment.
• Experience with HVAC, refrigeration, thermal systems, laboratory testing, and product validation.
• Familiarity with Lean product development, design for manufacturing, and production environments.
