Health Information Specialist I-

Location: Onsite in the Virginia market, including Charlottesville, Alexandria, Leesburg, and Fairfax; some travel between locations may be required. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM or 8:30 AM–5:00 PM EST.

Salary: $15–$18.32 per hour.

What you will do

• Process Release of Information requests accurately and efficiently.
• Retrieve and compile medical records from electronic medical record systems.
• Provide call support, faxing, image burning to CDs, storage ordering and review, and related administrative support.
• Maintain organized documentation and tracking of requests.
• Communicate with healthcare staff, patients, and requestors while providing coverage for onsite staff when needed.
• Maintain productivity, quality, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to commute between locations as needed.
• Strong communication skills and accurate computer-based data entry.
• Understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
