Dam Safety Engineer 1 (Hydropower)

Location: Rosemead, California, US; hybrid work with required residence in California

Salary: $79,200–$118,700 per year

What you will do

• Perform field inspections and provide construction support for dams and appurtenant structures.
• Investigate emergent dam safety issues and make independent field decisions, including directing field personnel when needed.
• Prepare technical engineering evaluations, regulatory reports, briefings, and project documentation.
• Develop maintenance strategies, evaluate dam safety instrumentation data, and recommend threshold and action levels.
• Provide guidance on FERC and California DSOD requirements and deliver dam safety training.
• Support root cause analyses, design reviews, technical investigations, and reliability improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or in a scientific, technical, or mathematics field.
• Experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
• Valid Class C driver’s license.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement and reside in California unless otherwise noted.
• Knowledge of safety policies, engineering procedures, documentation, and preventative or demand maintenance.

Nice to have

• Experience with dams or hydropower projects.
• Experience with geology, risk assessment, and hydrologic or hydraulic modeling.
• Experience with FERC and California DSOD dam safety and inspection regulations.
• Professional Engineering License and experience reviewing civil construction designs, drawings, specifications, and work plans.
