Environmental Agency Advocate Senior Advisor (Environmental Regulatory Affairs)

Location: Rosemead, California, US; hybrid work mode; employees are required to work and reside in California unless otherwise noted. The position includes up to 30% travel and field work throughout the SCE service territory. Relocation does not apply.

Salary: $161,700–$242,600 annually

What you will do

• Manage relationships and engagement strategies with federal and state environmental agencies.
• Lead meetings with agency leadership and coordinate internal input on priorities, policies, regulations, and legislation.
• Advocate for SCE regulatory requirements, initiatives, and policy positions, including handling escalated issues.
• Lead the development, renewal, and amendment of programmatic permits and agreements for federally regulated lands and environmental resources.
• Represent or support SCE at regulatory proceedings, hearings, workshops, board meetings, and industry task forces.
• Share agency intelligence and coordinate with internal teams, utility trade organizations, environmental organizations, and other external partners.

Requirements

• 10 or more years of experience in case management, energy markets, environmental sustainability, and/or energy-related regulatory policy.
• Ability to work and reside in California and report to an SCE facility for a set number of days under the hybrid work arrangement.
• Experience communicating with policymakers, agency staff, internal and external leaders, lawyers, and other collaborators.
• Experience with local air agencies, the Department of Transportation, and state and/or federal land management agencies.
• Ability to solve problems collaboratively and inclusively.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Natural Sciences, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
• Experience working in or with a regulated utility company.
• Experience creating pivot charts in Excel and dashboards in Power BI.
• Strong drive for continuous improvement and customer service excellence.
