What you will do

• Develop, implement, administer, and continuously improve laboratory-wide environmental health and safety programs.
• Lead regulatory inspections and audits, interpret findings, negotiate corrective-action timelines, and brief senior leadership on compliance risks.
• Investigate complex, high-severity, and recurring incidents; perform root cause analysis and direct corrective and preventive actions.
• Design and oversee employee safety training while mentoring and coaching EHS staff.
• Respond to hazardous-material, confined-space rescue, and fire or smoke emergencies, including leading after-action reviews.
• Coordinate cross-functional EHS initiatives, budgets, resources, timelines, and relationships with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Sciences, chemistry, biology, or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
• At least five years of experience in the same or a similar EHS role; seven years preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Advanced knowledge of applicable environmental health and safety regulations, compliance programs, audits, inspections, and technical safety practices.
• Ability to serve on the Confined Space Rescue Team and Emergency Response Team and operate independently in high-pressure situations.
• Strong communication, analytical, project management, stakeholder engagement, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• CSP, ASP/GSP, CIH, CHMM, or another comparable U.S.-recognized EHS credential.
• Experience leading laboratory-wide programs and serving as a delegate for a Site EHS Leader.
