Sr. Technical Writer II (6838)

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; onsite work required

Salary: $80,000–$135,000 per year, plus potential performance-based bonuses and other incentives.

What you will do

• Translate complex technical concepts into clear written content and visual materials.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, SOPs, user guides, technical diagrams, workflows, and roadmaps.
• Create communication materials, briefing materials, and reports for technical and non-technical senior government stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and project managers to gather and refine technical requirements.
• Ensure deliverables align with program objectives, client expectations, and security classification requirements.
• Independently manage documentation tasks and deliverables under tight deadlines.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI with CI Poly security clearance required.
• Ability to work onsite in Reston, Virginia.
• 7+ years of experience as a technical writer, knowledge manager, or in a similar content-focused role.
• Experience with content management systems or intranets such as GitLab, Confluence, or Drupal.
• Experience developing technical diagrams, charts, and graphics for varied audiences.
• Experience creating writing templates, SOPs, and style guides based on human-centered design and writing-for-the-web best practices, with the ability to work independently in an Agile software environment.
