HR Generalist

Location: San Mateo, United States; hybrid

Salary: $120K–$140K per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Maintain HRIS records, including start dates, job details, reporting lines, and employee data updates.
• Run regular data audits and partner with People Operations, Finance, and IT to keep systems consistent.
• Coordinate end-to-end onboarding, including background checks, I-9 verification, equipment setup, workspace readiness, and welcome materials.
• Manage the contractor lifecycle from agreements and onboarding through extensions, conversions, offboarding, and records maintenance.
• Support immigration case processing by gathering documents, tracking cases, answering basic questions, and monitoring deadlines.
• Maintain the HR wiki and administer employee recognition program logistics.

Requirements

• Degree in Human Resources or a related field and 2–3 years of experience as an HR Generalist or HR Specialist.
• Strong organization, prioritization, communication, judgment, and ability to work independently.
• Experience handling confidential employee information.
• Experience supporting immigration cases such as H-1B, TN, O-1, or green card processing.
• Hands-on experience with an HRIS such as Rippling.
• Ability to work in a hybrid role in San Mateo.
