Mgr, Fleet Operations

Location: Anchorage, Alaska, United States; remote work is not eligible. The role includes periodic travel throughout Alaska, including remote and rural locations, vendor facilities, maintenance sites, and field locations.

What you will do

• Lead statewide fleet operations, strategy, performance, and results.
• Manage vehicle and equipment availability, maintenance, acquisition, assignment, replacement, and disposal.
• Establish operating standards, preventive maintenance programs, replacement plans, KPIs, and performance expectations.
• Oversee fleet safety, regulatory compliance, records, telematics, and technology systems.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, vendor performance, sourcing, leasing, and total fleet costs.
• Partner with business leaders and provide executive reporting to improve reliability, service, utilization, and operational performance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in business administration, operations, transportation, logistics, supply chain, finance, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for education year for year.
• At least five years of experience in fleet operations, fleet management, transportation, logistics, vehicle or equipment operations, maintenance management, asset management, or a related operational function.
• At least two years of direct people-leadership experience, including performance management, coaching, and workload prioritization.
• Experience managing vendors, service-level expectations, budgets, and operational performance metrics.
• Working knowledge of preventive maintenance, vehicle lifecycle planning, safety and incident management, registration and inspection requirements, and fleet recordkeeping.
• Proficiency with fleet management or telematics systems and Microsoft Office, including Excel-based analysis and reporting. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Nice to have

• CAFM, CAFS, Lean Six Sigma, project management, safety, transportation compliance, or comparable professional certification.
• Experience managing geographically dispersed, mixed, or specialty fleets in Alaska or other remote operating environments.
• Experience with Samsara or comparable telematics platforms, fuel-card administration, maintenance analytics, and total cost of ownership analysis.
• Experience with capital planning, vehicle acquisition or leasing, upfit standards, asset disposal, contract negotiations, and vendor sourcing.
• Experience supporting telecommunications, utilities, construction, field services, or other 24/7 critical-service operations.
