Product Sustainability Manager

Location: Remote - United States; up to 25% travel and occasional work at a Watts Water location may be required.

What you will do

• Develop and implement a product sustainability program across product lines.
• Lead environmental Life Cycle Assessment initiatives and identify opportunities to reduce product impacts.
• Build sustainability models, metrics, reporting frameworks, and data inventories.
• Evaluate recycled content, harmful substances, product longevity, end-of-life considerations, circular economy principles, and environmental certifications.
• Partner with Product Development, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Marketing, and leadership to integrate sustainability into product development and business decisions.
• Support sustainability reporting, customer requests, audits, certifications, disclosures, industry engagement, and strategic product initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Product Development, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in product sustainability, sustainability engineering, environmental management, product life cycle assessment, or a related field.
• Experience conducting environmental and product LCAs and using related sustainability assessment tools.
• Knowledge of climate science, circular economy principles, regenerative design, and environmental sustainability practices.
• Experience developing sustainability programs, metrics, and reporting methodologies, with strong project management, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and sustainability-related reporting tools; employment eligibility, background checks, and pre-employment testing are required.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of ISO 14040/44, GRI, LEED, BREEAM, REACH, RoHS, Environmental Product Declarations, and related frameworks.
• Experience with sustainable product development, product compliance, environmental certifications, circular economy strategies, or sustainability reporting.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, plumbing, water technology, building products, or related industries.
