Focus on designing secure network architectures, implementing security controls, troubleshooting complex systems, and maintaining compliance across high-performance compute and storage platforms.

Location: New York, NY; hybrid/onsite

Salary: $113,011.58–$202,155 annually

What you will do

  • Administer the full lifecycle of secure HPC infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, authentication, monitoring, logging, performance tuning, reporting, and capacity planning.
  • Support HPC services such as LSF scheduling, Open OnDemand, PostgreSQL, parallel file systems, configuration management, and high-performance networking.
  • Design and enforce segmented network architectures, firewall rules, controlled ingress and egress, encryption, secure enclaves, access controls, audit trails, and centralized monitoring.
  • Lead troubleshooting, system hardening, patching, vulnerability remediation, incident response, and resolution of hardware, software, network, and system issues.
  • Maintain compliance with CMS DMP SAQ, NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, NIH data governance policies, and institutional cybersecurity standards.
  • Support researchers with data transfers, software installation, batch jobs, user tickets, technical documentation, audits, and after-hours support when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related scientific or technical field; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
  • At least 8 years of progressive HPC systems administration experience in large-scale Red Hat or CentOS Linux batch environments.
  • Hands-on experience with HPC schedulers, parallel file systems, configuration management, databases, web services, Globus, InfiniBand, and Ethernet networking.
  • Strong cybersecurity experience in regulated environments, including firewalls, data protection, access controls, monitoring, incident response, and NIST SP 800-171/800-53 implementation.
  • Expert troubleshooting, scripting or programming, analytical judgment, prioritization, communication, and stakeholder liaison skills.
  • Ability to work in the New York, NY hybrid/onsite arrangement.

Nice to have

  • Experience with IBM LSF and GPFS Spectrum Scale.
  • Academic or research environment experience and healthcare technology experience.
  • Experience with confidential computing and privacy-preserving linking of protected health information.
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
