TL;DR
Water Resources Specialist (Hydrology/Hydraulics): Supporting water resources consulting projects in Toronto through field assessments, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, design, permitting, and technical reporting with an accent on municipal infrastructure, mining, power, and land development. Focus on analysing surface water and groundwater systems, developing stormwater and flood mitigation solutions, and delivering environmental and regulatory documentation.

Location: Toronto, Canada; willingness to travel as required. The role includes field assessments, environmental monitoring, and construction inspections.

Salary: CAD 55,000–105,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Support baseline characterization studies, effects assessments, water management analyses, and environmental assessment initiatives.
  • Perform hydrologic, hydraulic, hydrotechnical, hydrogeological, climate change, water quality, and hydrometric data analyses.
  • Support stormwater management, floodplain and flood mitigation, industrial, mining, and groundwater-related projects.
  • Contribute to conceptual and detailed design, permitting, regulatory approvals, technical reports, proposals, and client deliverables.
  • Conduct water-related field assessments, monitoring, inspections, and construction support.
  • Collaborate with project teams while tracking regulatory drivers, emerging technologies, and market requirements.

Requirements

  • Up to 5 years of consulting or industry-related experience; recent graduates and candidates nearing completion of relevant programs are encouraged to apply.
  • University education in hydrotechnical disciplines, ideally a B.Eng., M.Eng., or M.Sc.
  • P.Eng. or P.Geo. credentials, or eligibility to register with PEO or PGO.
  • Strong understanding of water resources engineering, hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality.
  • Experience with hydrology and hydraulic analyses, modelling, water management planning and design, environmental assessments, permitting, and data analysis.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Visual OTTHYMO, SWMM, HY-8, MODFLOW, or FEFLOW.
  • Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Civil3D, applied statistics, and data management tools.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian planning, engineering, and environmental legislation and approval processes.
