TL;DR
Water Resources Designer (Water Resources Engineering): Developing stormwater management infrastructure, channel works, flood mitigation plans, and water management studies with an accent on hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, grading, design documentation, and regulatory permitting. Focus on interpreting spatial data, preparing detailed technical deliverables, and solving complex water resources challenges across municipal, mining, power, and land development projects.

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid and remote work options may be available based on role responsibilities

Salary: CAD 65,000–115,000 per year

What you will do

  • Support water resources projects and proposals, including baseline studies, effects assessments, water management analyses, and permitting activities.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modelling for stormwater management, floodplain and flood mitigation, industrial, and mining water management projects.
  • Develop conceptual and detailed designs for stormwater management facilities, low-impact development systems, channels, stabilization works, and outfalls.
  • Prepare grading plans, surfaces, profiles, cross-sections, design drawings, specifications, tender documents, figures, and mapping products.
  • Contribute to technical reports, proposals, presentations, and other client deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project teams while applying current regulatory requirements, technologies, and market practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of consulting or industry-related experience.
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent education, with C.Tech. or C.E.T. credentials or eligibility to register with OACETT.
  • Knowledge of water resources engineering, hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality.
  • Experience with stormwater management planning, grading and facility design, channel and outlet design, environmental assessment, and regulatory permitting.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Working knowledge of municipal standards, engineering and environmental legislation, policies, and regulatory approval processes.

Nice to have

  • Experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Visual OTTHYMO, SWMM, InfoWorks, HY-8, ArcGIS, GIS and mapping tools, or data management.
