Tailings Hydrotech Co-Op (CGY) - Winter (Mining)

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The role is based in the Calgary office and includes field investigations, site visits, and travel within Canada and internationally as required, including remote locations.

Salary: CAD 26.00–33.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Collect, review, and analyze hydrological, meteorological, and operational data for engineering studies and design development.
• Delineate drainage catchments and prepare water management layouts using GIS, Muk3D, and other engineering software.
• Support the planning and design of diversion channels, ditches, culverts, sumps, ponds, and water conveyance systems.
• Assist with hydrologic, hydraulic, and flood routing analyses using HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS.
• Develop water balance models, technical reports, design calculations, and engineering drawings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in field investigations and site visits.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering program at an accredited university.
• Strong interest in hydrotechnical, water resources, geotechnical, or mining engineering.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel to remote locations and work in field environments.
• Commitment to safety, sustainability, adaptability, and professional excellence.

Nice to have

• Experience with engineering and data analysis software.
• Familiarity with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GIS, Muk3D, or similar hydrotechnical tools.
• Previous co-op, research, or project experience in water resources, mining, tailings, or environmental engineering.
