Prototype & Test Engineer (Electromechanical Systems)

Location: On-site five days per week in San Francisco, United States

Base salary: $100,000–$130,000 plus equity

What you will do

• Prototype and test electromechanical systems, including sensors, pumps, mechanisms, and electronics.
• Build prototypes using 3D printing, machining, quick-turn tooling, in-house tools, and external suppliers.
• Design and run experiments to validate new designs, then track and analyze results.
• Design, build, and deploy physical test fixtures and jigs for R&D and manufacturing.
• Specify sensors and mechanical interfaces for custom test systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering across the product development lifecycle.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of hands-on prototyping and testing experience with electromechanical systems.
• Proficiency with 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks or ProEngineer.
• Experience using and maintaining shop tools, including 3D printers, band saws, and milling machines.
• Experience with embedded hardware such as Arduino and coding in Python.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• BS in engineering or equivalent; MS preferred. Ability to occasionally lift or push up to 50 lbs.
