Field Service Technician I (Medical Devices)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States; must reside in Central Connecticut. The role is described as remote administratively, but requires regular in-person work at customer sites and travel to hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities.

Pay range: $30.46–$45.68 per hour.

What you will do

• Repair, sharpen, inspect, test, and maintain surgical instruments at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot instrument issues and determine appropriate repair solutions with guidance from senior technicians.
• Complete repairs, work orders, service documentation, customer reports, and records accurately and on time.
• Build customer relationships, provide service recommendations, and support Sales teams in the territory.
• Collaborate with service, technical, and sales teams while maintaining clean and organized work areas.
• Follow ISO, FDA, quality, safety, and healthcare customer credentialing requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience repairing, machining, or handling delicate metal instruments.
• Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic computer and math skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and follow technical instructions.
• Ability to work independently, travel to customer locations, and work overtime or adjusted schedules when needed.
• Must reside in Central Connecticut and be able to meet customer-site access requirements, including applicable background checks, drug screening, and vaccination or immunization requirements.

Nice to have

• Technical, vocational, or associate degree.
• Experience in medical devices, healthcare, sterile processing, manufacturing, or mechanical repair.
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and Sterile Processing Department operations.
