Assistant Plan Controller (Healthcare Finance)

Location: Remote-MO; preferred candidates are based in Missouri and able to work onsite approximately once per week, generally three times per month.

Salary: $70,100–$126,200 per year

What you will do

• Prepare monthly financial analyses and reports covering income, expenses, earnings, and the financial position of health plans.
• Assist with statutory reporting and maintain the integrity of health plan financial information.
• Monitor internal accounting controls and compliance with GAAP, SSAP, and company policies.
• Arrange audits of health plan accounts and provide financial and business analysis.
• Convey health plan needs to relevant stakeholders and help develop, implement, and monitor program results.
• Lead and mentor two direct reports while collaborating with Finance and operational business teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; a master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 4 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in public accounting or healthcare.
• Advanced Excel skills, including XLOOKUPs, PivotTables, large data set analysis, and account reconciliations.
• Experience with Power Query and Power Automate.
• Knowledge of high-volume cash reconciliations, month-end close activities, process improvements, and staff leadership or mentoring.
• CPA certification is preferred.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience in public accounting or the healthcare industry.
• Familiarity with Copilot or other AI tools for workflow automation, information analysis, and efficiency improvements.
• CPA certification.
