Senior Scientist, R&D Assay Development (NGS)

What you will do

• Design and coordinate development, verification, and validation studies under design control.
• Develop robust, automated molecular testing workflows with automation, engineering, R&D, bioinformatics, and laboratory operations teams.
• Lead integration testing between automated workflows and LIMS systems to ensure data integrity.
• Plan, execute, troubleshoot, analyze, and present moderate- to high-complexity experiments.
• Identify root causes, develop corrective solutions, and provide technical support to laboratory operations.
• Author SOPs, study reports, and transfer documents; train team members on new procedures and automated workflows.

Requirements

• University degree with 8+ years of related experience, MS with 6+ years, or PhD with 4+ years.
• Experience with high-throughput NGS workflows or genetic testing applications in clinical settings.
• Experience developing and validating molecular assays for CLIA laboratory testing.
• Experience automating molecular workflows or transferring assays to automated platforms.
• Advanced proficiency in standard and long-range PCR, primer design and optimization, NGS technologies, qPCR, ddPCR, and multiplex PCR.
• Work based in Austin, TX, United States.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of design verification and validation processes compliant with U.S. and E.U. regulatory standards.
• Experience managing responsibilities across multiple projects.
• Familiarity with Excel, JMP, and AI agents such as Gemini and Claude.
