Scientist, Molecular Assays (qPCR/ddPCR/NGS)

Location: Somerset, New Jersey, United States; onsite

Base pay: $96,267–$126,351 per year, plus potential performance-based bonus and/or equity.

What you will do

• Develop, execute, optimize, qualify, transfer, and troubleshoot molecular assays for clinical, translational, and preclinical programs.
• Perform qPCR and ddPCR assays for gene expression, biomarker quantification, transgene detection, vector copy number, and biodistribution studies.
• Extract, quantify, and assess nucleic acids from blood, tissue, cell culture, and other biological samples.
• Prepare samples and NGS libraries, including single-cell RNA sequencing workflows.
• Operate and maintain qPCR, ddPCR, and NGS-related instruments while analyzing experimental data and ensuring data quality.
• Maintain laboratory documentation, manage samples in LIMS and ELN systems, and support inventory, shipments, equipment maintenance, and workflow improvements.

Requirements

• M.S. in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Ph.D. in a related scientific discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience with nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, RT-qPCR, and/or ddPCR.
• Experience with NGS workflows and library preparation; single-cell sequencing experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with assay development, data analysis, biological sample processing, and regulated laboratory environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organization, documentation, and data-quality skills.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; employment eligibility is verified through E-Verify. Work may involve biological specimens, hazardous materials, PPE, extended standing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience in cell and gene therapy, immunology, oncology, pharmaceutical, clinical, research, or diagnostic laboratories.
• Single-cell sequencing experience.
