Field Application Scientist

Location: Remote within the assigned Southeast territory in Florida, USA; candidates should be based in the assigned city. The role requires 30–50% travel to customer sites, potentially four to five days per week, and work outside normal business hours as needed.

Salary: $88,100–$134,375 annual base salary, plus potential discretionary or non-discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Educate, train, and support new and existing customers on MSD instruments, assays, software, and data analysis.
• Support assay development, troubleshooting, optimization, and validation across fields including inflammation, oncology, metabolic disorders, neuroscience, immunogenicity, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, and bioproduction.
• Evaluate potential instrument opportunities and collaborate with account managers on strategic sales activities.
• Attend scientific meetings, conferences, and trade shows; deliver seminars and provide field intelligence.
• Create reports and presentations, document customer interactions in Salesforce, and communicate field feedback internally.
• Monitor relevant scientific literature and competitor technologies to support commercial strategy.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in life sciences or a related field; a master’s or bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience may be considered.
• At least three years of hands-on experience in a molecular biology, clinical, discovery, or biochemistry laboratory in a research or clinical setting.
• Thorough understanding of immunoassay principles, development, and applicability across research fields.
• Ability to independently perform assay and reagent troubleshooting, optimization, and validation experiments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to travel regularly within the designated Florida territory and work in laboratory environments that may involve chemicals or hazardous materials.
