Senior Software Engineer - Payment Technology

Location: Buffalo, New York, United States; four days onsite at Seneca One Buffalo and one day working from home per week.

Salary: $97,100–$161,800 annual USD

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain secure, clean, and resilient banking applications.
• Build and support scalable, high-volume payment applications.
• Review pull requests, conduct code reviews, and resolve merge conflicts.
• Analyze technical and business requirements for completeness, accuracy, and feasibility.
• Design and integrate SOAP and REST APIs for internal and external payment ecosystem partners.
• Support application architecture, production resiliency, monitoring, incident management, and regulatory controls.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree with at least 5 years of systems analysis or application development experience, or bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience; equivalent experience may be accepted.
• Advanced proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• 5–7 years of experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server, including database design, performance tuning, and complex query development.
• Strong banking payments experience, including Zelle, RTP, or digital payment processing.
• Hands-on experience designing and integrating SOAP and REST APIs.
• Experience supporting mission-critical, real-time payment systems in a 24x7 production environment.
