Technical Director, Accounting

Location: Columbus, Ohio — must reside within 35 miles of 1 hirify.global Plaza. Hybrid schedule: 2 days in the office and 3 days remote. The role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization or the STEM OPT extension program.

Salary: $138,000–$206,000 expected starting annual salary range; national range up to $243,000.

What you will do

• Develop accounting guidance, policies, practices, and standards for new Specialty Finance product lines.
• Research and resolve complex accounting issues using GAAP, STAT, regulatory, and SEC requirements where applicable.
• Advise on systems development, financial data accuracy, reporting requirements, and bordereaux data needs.
• Design and implement financial reporting controls, governance, and oversight for Specialty Finance.
• Collaborate with senior management, finance functions, external auditors, regulators, and industry groups.
• Lead special projects and present formal accounting updates to internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Undergraduate education in accounting or finance; postgraduate studies are desirable.
• Eight years of accounting experience in insurance or financial services.
• At least four years of management experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and/or STAT accounting principles, financial reporting, accounting cycles, and audit documentation.
• Ability to analyze accounting problems, legal requirements, financial data, and regulatory obligations.
• Must reside within 35 miles of 1 hirify.global Plaza in Columbus, Ohio and work two days per week in the office.

Nice to have

• CPA designation.
• Big Four public accounting experience.
