Athletic Advisor I

Location: Commerce, Texas, United States; ability to work beyond normal office hours and/or weekends and travel may be required.

What you will do

• Advise undergraduate student-athletes on degree programs, academic schedules, course planning, probationary status, and curriculum changes.
• Monitor student progress, review academic records and test scores, and verify completion of degree requirements.
• Refer students to university resources covering admissions, financial aid, housing, healthcare, academic preparation, and student services.
• Support orientations, family visits, group tours, presentations, workshops, career fairs, and other university events.
• Collaborate with academic deans, faculty, staff, major advisors, and university departments while developing advising training and programs.
• Ensure NCAA guidelines are followed, maintain student-contact records, prepare advising reports, and support multiple athletic programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
• Related advising or recruiting experience is not required.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, student information, degree-planning, and degree-audit systems.
• Strong written communication, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially, work cooperatively, travel, and work outside normal office hours or on weekends.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to move light objects.
