Engineering Intern (Automotive)

Location: Plymouth, Michigan, United States; onsite engineering role. Summer internship runs from May 3, 2027 through August 12, 2027, with availability for up to 40 hours per week.

What you will do

• Support design issue resolution using the Basic Engineering Process, lean engineering methods, and A3 problem-solving.
• Prepare documentation and collect data for engineering xSO signoff while working with subject matter technical experts.
• Coordinate DV and PV testing activities, including test timing, seat builds, and teardowns.
• Support customer and DV/PV test builds in Plymouth and apply Design for Assembly and Manufacturing principles.
• Evaluate engineering design changes in CAD and assess their high-level cost impact using Design for Cost methods.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university and pursuing a four-year B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Available to work up to 40 hours per week during the internship.
• Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
• Solid analytical, organizational, follow-up, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and the development team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

• Previous automotive internship or co-op experience.
• CAD experience with CATIA or Unigraphics.
