Mechanical Engineering Intern (Automotive)

Location: Hands-on work in a high-volume manufacturing environment; company headquarters in Detroit, Michigan.

What you will do

• Design tooling components for powder compaction and hot forge manufacturing processes.
• Create 3D models, engineering drawings, prints, gages, fixtures, and production equipment documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to improve processes, quality, and productivity.
• Troubleshoot tooling and production issues and support practical corrective solutions.
• Assist with the design and implementation of mechanical systems for automation projects.
• Participate in engineering reviews, continuous improvement activities, and documentation updates.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology, with anticipated graduation in 2028.
• Experience with CAD software such as Creo Parametric, Autodesk Inventor, or SolidWorks.
• Basic understanding of GD&T concepts and blueprint reading.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Ability to follow established safety, quality, and engineering standards.
