Mechanical Engineer Intern (Aerospace)

Location: Red Cat Corporate, Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. Onsite work includes extended periods navigating indoor and outdoor facility areas and exposure to industrial operations.

What you will do

• Assist with designing and testing mechanical components and subsystems under senior engineering guidance.
• Support the development of processes, components, and subsystem assemblies.
• Help execute verification plans and contribute to problem-solving and root cause investigations.
• Maintain technical documentation and engineering deliverables.
• Participate in project planning, technical meetings, and cross-functional engineering collaboration.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• Coursework or project experience in mechanical design, including class projects, capstone work, or personal builds.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Understanding of basic engineering principles and design processes.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills in a team-based environment.
• Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residence for ITAR/EAR-restricted work and must not require sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Exposure to FEA, vibration analysis, or modal testing.
• Familiarity with heat transfer or thermal management.
• Experience with metals, plastics, fasteners, adhesives, or surface treatments.
• Interest in avionics, UAVs, or optics.
• Personal or academic projects involving mechanical design or prototyping.
