TL;DR
Senior Counsel, Real Estate (Nuclear Energy): Leading complex real estate acquisitions, dispositions, leases, easements, site-control transactions, and project diligence for advanced fission facilities with an accent on title review, ALTA/NSPS surveys, land-use matters, and transaction execution. Focus on managing outside counsel, advising cross-functional project teams, and solving novel legal issues in a fast-growing, highly regulated environment.

Location: Remote within the United States, with travel to the Santa Clara, California headquarters twice per quarter, occasional travel to project sites, and in-person attendance at headquarters during the first two weeks of onboarding.

Salary: $200,000–$225,000 per year

What you will do

  • Lead drafting, review, negotiation, and execution of acquisitions, dispositions, leases, options, easements, rights-of-way, licenses, and other site-control transactions.
  • Oversee title and ALTA/NSPS survey diligence, including review of title commitments, exception documents, title policies, and curative work.
  • Drive transactions from letters of intent through closing and post-closing obligations.
  • Coordinate diligence covering zoning, land use, entitlements, environmental conditions, site access, utilities, and mineral rights.
  • Manage outside counsel across projects, including scope, staffing, budgets, timelines, work product, and performance.
  • Advise project deployment, business development, finance, operations, and other teams on real estate and related legal matters.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
  • 3–5 years of real estate transactional experience at a large law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Independent experience leading complex acquisitions, dispositions, leases, easements, site-control arrangements, and real estate closings.
  • Hands-on experience reviewing title commitments, exception documents, and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys.
  • Experience advising cross-functional project teams and managing multiple matters with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be U.S.-based and eligible under applicable U.S. export control laws as a U.S. person.

Nice to have

  • In-house experience at a high-growth or startup company.
  • Experience with complex construction projects, joint ventures, project finance, environmental matters, land use, zoning, utilities, or permitting.
  • Experience in nuclear, energy, infrastructure, or another highly regulated industry.
