Software Validation Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Location: Oshkosh, Wisconsin, United States; onsite. Travel required: 5%. Relocation is available.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases for embedded controllers, Windows applications, and mobile applications.
• Perform regression, exploratory, integration, and system-level testing across software platforms and control systems.
• Evaluate functionality, document defects, and communicate test results and recommendations to Software Engineering.
• Collaborate with software engineers to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues found during testing.
• Test software and control systems in laboratory simulations and real-world marine applications.
• Verify that software releases meet functional requirements, quality standards, and customer expectations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5–10 years of experience in software validation, system verification, or quality assurance for embedded, desktop, or mobile software.
• Experience validating embedded control systems, mobile applications, and/or Windows-based applications.
• Proficiency with issue tracking, technical requirements documentation, Gantt charts, SharePoint, Azure DevOps, and source control repositories such as SVN.
• Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, analytical, troubleshooting, and system-level problem-solving skills.
• Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated software testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of marine systems, boating applications, or internal combustion engine technologies.
• Working knowledge of C, C#, and C++.
• Experience with Vector CANalyzer, CANoe, or similar CAN bus analysis and network simulation tools.
• Python experience for test automation, scripting, data analysis, and tool development.
