Test Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Location: Rosslyn, VA, United States; based at headquarters with up to 20% travel to third-party qualification labs and customer integration sites

Base salary: $90,000–$120,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain automated production test scripts, software frameworks, procedures, and test fixtures.
• Execute end-of-line verification, environmental-stress screening, acceptance testing, hardware qualification, and compliance testing.
• Set up hardware, connectivity, instrumentation, and data collection in internal environments and third-party qualification laboratories.
• Operate and maintain the Hardware-in-the-Loop lab, including test benches, cabling, fixtures, and embedded hardware integration.
• Perform design verification, regression testing, and system integration across hardware, firmware, and Linux software interfaces.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, production, and design teams to troubleshoot failures, identify root causes, and improve test coverage and product reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in hardware qualification testing, HIL testing, or test automation.
• Experience with hardware/software QA processes, test automation frameworks, and scripting languages such as Python, LabVIEW, or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Hands-on experience with hardware setup, test fixtures, measurement equipment, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and DAQs.
• Familiarity with Linux, embedded software debugging, firmware concepts, HDL, and embedded Linux devices.
• Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance; active security clearance is preferred.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, or UART.
• Knowledge of MIL-STD, DO-160, or IPC standards.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality frameworks.
