Director, General Assembly Quality (Automotive)

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office. Regular in-person meetings and events are required, along with domestic and international travel. A valid driver's license and passport are required.

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Develop and implement General Assembly quality strategies focused on customer satisfaction and vehicle functionality.
• Manage General Assembly Quality functions, including audits, dynamic in-process inspections, final inspection, and paint quality.
• Drive quality improvements and KPI performance with Engineering, Supplier Quality, Operations, and Purchasing.
• Plan and evaluate root-cause analyses and ensure robust corrective actions for production vehicles.
• Define quality processes and technical standards while overseeing daily technical quality operations.
• Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Quality team supporting Scout's lean Quality system.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical or vehicle engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field, with core competency in paint.
• 12+ years of experience in automotive engineering or product quality, including at least 5 years in a leadership role at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
• Strong technical knowledge of vehicle development, production, assembly functionality, and vehicle paint technology.
• Hands-on troubleshooting skills and sound knowledge of quality management.
• Leadership and team-management experience, including building and leading high-performing teams.
• Knowledge or experience with AIAG, IATF, ISO, and VDA standards.
