Quality Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Onsite in Bowling Green, Kentucky, United States, with full-time attendance at the plant. Occasional first- to second-shift rotation, off-shift and weekend production support, and supplier-site visits may be required. Relocation benefits are not provided.

What you will do

• Respond to project requests, prioritize work, and manage complex quality tasks with independent judgment.
• Develop quality standards and procedures, review nonconforming parts, analyze data, and determine root causes.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective action plans using Red X Problem Solving and related methods.
• Resolve production, supplier-quality, and engineering issues affecting customer audits, run rate, warranty, and quality metrics.
• Collaborate with production, product engineering, supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, and suppliers to prevent defects and improve processes.
• Coordinate audits, engineering changes, production trial runs, new-product launches, and Global Manufacturing System requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of experience in automotive engineering, quality, manufacturing, or a related area.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, understand GD&T, and use 3D visualization software.
• Understanding of Statistical Process Control or statistical data analysis.
• Strong critical-thinking, independent-judgment, communication, and presentation skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future GM immigration sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with plant, engineering, and supplier-quality systems such as GSIP, GEPICS, ECM, PRTS, SPPS, GQTS, TeamCenter, and MPDs.
• Knowledge of engineering change management, ECRs, TCRs, parts release processes, PPQP, APQP, and PPAP.
• Supplier audit experience or Red X Journeyman and DFSS Green Belt certification.
• Previous experience as a Quality Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, Process Engineer, Design Engineer, or Reliability Engineer.
